OGI FacultyThe Ola Grimsby Institute offers opportunities to join us as a faculty member, mentor, or instructor throughout the Unites States, Europe, and Asia. Qualifications and Selection ProcessInstructors at the Ola Grimsby Institute are chosen because of their enthusiasm for the curricula, for the success of the OGIs students, and their genuine desire to provide the best possible healthcare for orthopedic manual therapy patients. In addition, the Ola Grimsby Institute carefully grooms and selects its faculty members based on the following progression: Observation Candidates are observed for three or four years as they progress through the OGIs post-professional degree programs. Qualified OGI instructors observe the candidates work ethics; his or her level of responsibility with regard to the program, members of staff, and students; and his or her clinical performance in a mentorship situation. When a candidate is identified, a selection committee consisting of existing instructors discusses each candidates qualifications, clinical abilities, and character in detail. Approval through vote by the selection committee results in an apprentice-instructorship. Course Instruction As an apprentice, the candidate will begin a detailed observation of short-term course instruction under a qualified instructor. The apprentice continues to participate in a course or a series of courses while contributing increasing periods of instruction and lab participation. Residency Instruction Candidates begin by completing the twelve-month certificate program under observation. Subsequently, they teach the doctoral program for a one-year period under observation. Fellowships and clinical specializations are taught after the candidate has taught several doctoral residency programs successfully. At this level, candidates may be elected into the board of examiners and may qualify as one of the directors under one of the subdivisions under the Vice Presidents Committee. Technical Qualifications Technical qualifications are observed as part of the overall candidate selection process. Successful candidates will prove that they are able to satisfactorily perform their clinical work and rehabilitate their patients. High velocity manipulations are permitted only in states that allow this type of therapy is allowed. In addition, some states permit manipulations as part of a physical therapy practicwe, such as in sports medicine. In these states, the OGIs programs are expanded to include instruction and hands-on training in these techniques. For candidates who wish to have a more academically-focused experience, a specific area of research may be chosen and the course of study can be adapted around that specialty.
